Job Description:

As a Senior Development Chemist, you will develop new global product platforms for Industrial & Automotive Powder Market segments; encompassing formulation design, preparation and application of coatings. You'll also test these coatings against a wide range of specifications and customer requirements from different global regions. If you enjoy hands on product development work; you're going to love the working environment of our Global Powder Coatings Center of Excellence lab in Cleveland Ohio!

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute projects, using an experienced level of technical competence and communicate results through written and verbal summaries, coatings reports, test drill presentations and gate review updates.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental results effectively to chip in to the development of new and improved Powder product platforms.
  • Work closely with regional labs to understand their needs and how to incorporate these needs into new product platforms and drive technology transfer to accelerate localization and customization.
  • Coordinate related activities including synthesis, regulatory evaluation and application.
  • Create and share ideas for innovative new powder coating systems and application processes to champion scientific exchange with technical associates globally.
  • Use project results to develop robust products that can be launched efficiently at key customers. Assist in launch activities as required.
  • Build and maintain a network with commercial and technical teams to communicate progress on projects and understand future needs.
  • Train new associates in daily activities and provide supervision and mentoring for designated professional and supporting personnel such as other lab technicians and chemists, interns, or technical visitors from other regional labs.

Qualifications

  • PHD +3, Masters +8, or Bachelors + 10 years of relevant product development experience.
  • Required a degree in a technical field such as Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • Relevant work experience in powder coatings.
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Experience with experimental design (DOE) and problem solving.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication; and a strong desire to work in a dynamic global environment.
  • Travel will be <10%.
