Job Description:

Union Home Mortgage Corp. is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to serve as a resource to our leadership team by providing HR expertise in the areas of performance management, coaching, policy interpretation, benefits administration, employee engagement and employee relations. Assists in managing HR initiatives and projects. Maintains good communication and a positive relationship with all partners.

  • Act as an HR business partner and provide full HR support to assigned business channel
  • Establish and maintain regular update meetings with assigned business channel
  • Manage employee relations, including investigations and progressive discipline
  • Develop and deliver manager/partner coaching and training (working with UHU team)
  • Serve on compensation committee, provide analysis for comp changes
  • Consistent HR representative on assigned business channel huddles
  • Manage and follow Quality of Hire and On-boarding surveys for trends, coaching/training opportunities
  • Serve as a true mentor with focus on developing assigned Jr. partner (Coordinator)
  • Stay abreast of HR law/regulation changes and lead implementation where needed
  • Seek out and take advantage of continuous personal L&D opportunities.
  • Develop and lead training initiatives within dept.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Administer and improve performance management system, to include semi-annual coaching sessions, regular feedback and accountability
  • Works closely with all partners to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Leads and supports the effective integration of new hires, including on-boarding all new partners to the company
  • Counsels and advises partners on various HR matters and communicates important information such as benefits, compensation, non-competition/employment agreements, etc.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for all company benefit programs, including self-funded medical plan, dental, vision, Life/AD&D, STD, LTD, PTO and 401K retirement plan. Develops relationship with benefit broker consultant
  • Assist in leading partner benefits committee to facilitate employee education, engagement and buy-in
  • Assists in leading annual open enrollment process by articulating plan performance, benefit and cost changes as applicable and answering all inquiries
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Facilitates execution of various HR related training programs
  • Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance management system and revises as necessary
  • Processes terminations as needed. Determines and tracks reasons for turnover. Conducts exit interviews and assists partners with questions regarding their transition. Administers all unemployment claims
  • Serves as an ambassador of our corporate culture by living out the code of conduct daily

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, or related field with advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience in an HR generalist, management, or business partner role
  • Prior experience in mortgage banking environment preferred
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify and drive appropriate solutions
  • Ability to work independently with tight time lines and multiple priorities in a fast paced, innovative environment
  • Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to interact with partners at all levels of the company
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities; must be organized and flexible, and able to handle interruptions and provide excellent customer service while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and demonstrate a professional manner
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel/etc.)
