Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) skilled in Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing, with a focus on cardiac telemetry and med-surg patient populations. This travel position is based in Lorain, OH, supporting a 33-bed PCU/Stepdown Unit. The role requires handling patients with cardiac, vascular, and medical-surgical needs including post-catheterization and post-pacemaker care. Key Qualifications and Certifications: - Active RN license in a compact state or the state of practice - Minimum 2 years nursing experience, preferably in acute care - Dysrhythmia Exam certification (study guide available) - BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke certification required - Experience with cardiac telemetry, vascular patients, lines, drains, and advanced airway management - Strong clinical judgment and critical care nursing skills - Familiarity with EPIC EHR and telemetry strip verification - Comfortable managing multi-system organ failure and complex patient needs Core Responsibilities: - Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation - Administer prescribed medications safely and coordinate multidisciplinary care - Act as patient safety advocate and engage in quality improvement initiatives - Manage advanced clinical interventions, patient teaching, and family support - Respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions in a high-acuity environment Schedule: - 13-week contract, 12-hour PM shifts - Every Other Weekend (EOW), Every Other Holiday (EOH) - Local candidates will not be considered Work Environment & Patient Care Details: - Patient-to-nurse ratios typically between 1:4-6 depending on staffing and acuity - Patients require management of PICCs, dialysis catheters, trachs, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow oxygen, vasoactive drips, and wound care devices - Navy blue scrubs required Lorain, OH:Lorain offers a balance of urban amenities and scenic waterfronts along Lake Erie.
