PURPOSE: To perform multiple hands-on functions within the
Consumables Process Engineering Group supporting the Stainless &
Nickel Alloy Wire Drawing department, ranging from the support of
daily production operations to the development of new and improved
manufacturing processes. This includes a focus on the continuous
improvement of safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing
costs. JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for safety, cleanliness of work
area, and workmanship while performing assigned duties. Review,
understand, and follow the departmental procedures that are
associated with this position. Responsible for product quality and
productivity resulting from the manufacturing processes in the
Stainless & Nickel Alloy Wire Drawing department Set up and conduct
tests under operational conditions to investigate processes and
product designs. May work independently or under the direction of a
Consumable Process Engineer or Engineering Manager. Assist with the
execution of Permission Notes to test process changes, material
changes, and new/redesigned products. Support capital projects that
may include installation of new or modified equipment and/or
processes. Must be able to perform basic analysis of raw data and
make decisions based on the analysis. Create and maintain all
documentation associated with the manufacturing process. Assist
with “Job Hazard Analysis” as required. Provide technical support
in production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process
improvement or product development. Interact with all departments
as required to support Consumable Division initiatives. These
include, but are not limited to: R&D, Supply Management, all
production departments, Q/A. Occasionally make decisions that
affect the business results of the division (production costs etc.)
Analyze manufacturing processes to look for more efficient methods.
Anticipates challenges and recommends improvements to products,
processes or service improvements. Periodically act as a lead,
coordinating and facilitating the work of others. Engaged or
willingness to be engaged in Continuous Improvement concepts and
activities. Assume additional responsibilities as needed or
directed in support of the Company’s strategy. Experience &
Education Requirements Vocational training and 5 years of
experience in a relevant work environment is required; or High
School Diploma/GED with 7 years’ experience in a relevant work
environment. Continuous Improvement Tier Grey certification is
desirable. Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
Must have an in-depth knowledge of the processes, machines, and
equipment in the Consumable Division, specifically the Stainless &
Nickel Alloy Wire Drawing department or other wire drawing
experience. Must be able to run production equipment where
applicable. Must be proficient at Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be
willing to become proficient in MES, SAP, PowerPoint, and other
