The Department of Bioethics at the Case Western Reserve University
(CWRU) School of Medicine invites applications for a
non-tenure-track faculty position at the Instructor level.
Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) at the
time of appointment. The successful candidate will have a strong
record of scholarly and educational activity in Medical/Health
Humanities, Social Medicine, Bioethics, or related areas. In
particular, we are seeking candidates with expertise in a number of
areas, including the ethics of mental health, disability studies
and justice, and medical humanities.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Department's
teaching programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and medical
school levels. Candidates will be encouraged to collaborate with
the Department's multidisciplinary faculty in scholarship and
service activities. The successful candidate will also demonstrate
a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching
and scholarship. This position will begin ideally in Summer or Fall
2023, but start date is negotiable.
The Department has a longstanding history of outstanding research,
education, and service. Itsnationally- and
internationally-recognized faculty have expertise in bioethics,
medical humanities, and social medicine, with particular areas of
specialization including genetic research ethics, international
research ethics, eating disorders and body image, biobanking,
clinical ethics, and other evolving ethics related research areas.
The Department also has thriving undergraduate minor and MA
programs in Bioethics and Medical Humanities and welcomed its
second cohort into its newly-relaunched and highly successful PhD
program in the fall of 2022. The Department also boasts an
outstanding record of university, regional, national, and
international service.
CWRU is located in the University Circle area of Cleveland, Ohio.
Cleveland is a vibrant, culturally rich, re-emerging city, recently
named one of the top 15 best places to live in the US ().
University Circle itself is home to world-renowned cultural
institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, Museum of
Contemporary Art, Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Institute of
Music, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Milton and Tamar Maltz
Performing Arts Center, and the stunning Cleveland Cultural
Gardens, which celebrate the ethnic richness of the city's history.

Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
